Best Budget Bass Drum Pedals

For drummers on a tight budget, finding the best cheap bass drum pedal can be difficult. You want to get something that has some weight and offers great rebound, but you don’t want to pay big bucks for it. Worse yet, you may find yourself shopping on an extremely low budget. I’m here to tell you that there are some good options out there if you know where to look, though:

1). TAMA IRON COBRA 200 SERIES DOUBLE PEDAL

This is probably my favorite double pedal on the market today, but sadly it’s also one of the most expensive. If money isn’t an issue for you, though, then this is worth considering. It features long-spindle cranks, a master chain drive, and a dual-chain Turbo drive. It has won several music awards, including Best of Year in 2007 from Modern Drummer magazine. It comes with two beaters – one felt/wood beater and one plastic beater.

2). YAMAHA BB424F BASS DRUM PEDAL

This relatively inexpensive Yamaha 4-spring bass drum pedal is similar to the Iron Cobra 200 series found at #1. The base plate is different, though, which will affect how it feels when you play it for extended periods. The chain drive also features an adjustable “toe clamp” for fine-tuning your foot’s angle (it can go completely vertical or slightly forward). Overall I’d say that this is a pretty good pedal, but there are better options out there for the money.

3). DW 5000 DOUBLE BASS PEDAL

DW has been making some of the best drum gear for over 40 years now, and you certainly can’t go wrong with one of their bass drum pedals. In fact, I’ve used several DW pedals for many years, and they never disappoint me – if you take care of them, they’ll last forever! The 5000 series features a cast-iron base plate that will stay solid through plenty of playing time. DW also offers double bass pedals in almost every imaginable configuration: single chain/dual cam/dual belt etc., so finding one to suit your style shouldn’t be too difficult. It’s worth noting that these pedals are rather large and heavy, so if size and weight are a concern, you should definitely look elsewhere.

4). TAMA IRON WORKS SPEED COBRA BASS DRUM PEDAL

Tama’s Iron Works line of pedals features some of the highest-quality gear on the market today. This pedal is no exception! It features double-chain drives with 2 iron cast drive plates for bass drum and one for lower “floor tom” (for double pedal work). The base plate is made of phenolic resin, which keeps it light but strong. If you’re looking for a good quality double pedal that won’t break the bank – this could be exactly what you need.

5). PEARL ELIMINATOR DEMON DRIVE DOUBLE PEDAL

Pearl is another great company that makes some of the best drum gear around (they make several models of double bass pedals too, but this is my favorite). It has a fairly large footprint, so it’s perfect for gigging or playing on stage. The Demon Drive system features dual-chain motors for super low-noise performance and smooth operation. It has an adjustable chain drive pedalboard angle as well as beater angle, which allows you to fine-tune the feel and rebound just the way you like it.

6). MAPEX TORNADO 4 SPRING BASS DRUM PEDAL

This Mapex bass drum pedal was designed with rock music in mind – specifically, live performances! Despite its heavy construction, I’d recommend this pedal to anybody who wants something solid to beat on while gigging or playing live. It features 4 large steel springs for a powerful rebound, adjustable beater angle, and smooth chain drive action. If you’re looking for a pedal that will take a beating night after night without flinching, then this is the one to get.

7). DW 7200 DOUBLE BASS DRUM PEDAL

The DW 7200 is another great example of why so many professional drummers trust their sound to only the best equipment available. This double bass pedal offers all the bells and whistles you’d expect from something in this price range: dual-chain drives, 2 cast plates (bass drum/floor tom), reversible spurs, ergonomic linkage, etc. Additionally, it features an innovative Quick Release Cam system which makes changing beater heads or adjusting pedal tension quick and easy. All these features make this bass drum pedal perfect for anybody looking for a powerful double-bass set without breaking the bank.

8). TAMA BELL BRASS SINGLE CHAIN BASS DRUM PEDAL

This single-chain drive Tama Bell Brass bass drum pedal is one of my personal favorites! Its simple, elegant design offers smooth operation and rock-solid reliability – it also has great low-noise performance (thanks to the single-chain system). This pedal weighs about 3 pounds so it isn’t very heavy, but it feels extremely solid when you play on it—definitely recommended if you’re looking for something with good power, responsiveness, and feel.

9). DW 5000 “HEAVY” SINGLE PEDAL

This DW 5000 pedal is proof that you don’t need a double bass pedal to have good power and responsiveness! Like all pedals in the 5000 series, the 5000 Heavy features a rock-solid design and feel. In terms of weight, it’s fairly heavy compared to other single pedals – but it’s still lighter than most doubles, so you can use this without sacrificing speed or agility. The base plate is very large, which helps keep the footboard from “bottoming out” when playing hard. If you’re looking for a well-constructed, reliable single pedal with a powerful feel, then look no further – this might be what you’re looking for.

10). PEARL P3002 DEMON DRIVE BASS DRUM PEDAL

Thanks to its durability, power, and low-noise performance, the Pearl Demon Drive series has won over many fans. The P3002 is the perfect example of why so many people choose Pearl pedals – its simple design makes it easy to set up, use, and maintain… but don’t be fooled by its looks – the heavy-duty construction will take years of abuse night after night without showing any signs of wear or slowing down.

11). MAPEX FALCON DOUBLE BASS PEDAL

This double bass pedal from Mapex is another very solid offering that combines great power with intelligent simplicity. It features two removable drive plates for adjusting the pedal angle (and thus feel) as needed. This particular model has a single chain drive system that offers smooth, low-noise operation and a responsive feel. This pedal also has a cast aluminum base plate which performs very well even when used on harder surfaces like concrete. On the whole, I’d say this pedal would be perfect for anybody looking for an affordable double bass set capable of delivering good power and speed.

12). MAPEX SATURN IV PEDAL

As far as simple yet reliable single chain drive bass drum pedals go, you can’t really ask for better than the Mapex Saturn IV series. The Saturn IV is extremely light (around 2 pounds) yet feels very solid thanks to its cast aluminum base plate – many other pedals in this price range use cheap plastic or thin metal plates that don’t provide adequate support for your footboard. Despite its lightweight, the Saturn IV still offers good power and speed thanks to its single-chain system. If you like simple, no-nonsense designs, then this might be the perfect pedal for you.

In Conclusion:

These are some of the most popular and best-selling options for both beginner and professional drummers. No matter if you’re looking for a single or double bass pedal – all the pedals on this list will be an excellent addition to your set-up!
